Awakening in his bed, he looked around. His eyes still unadjusted, everything was so fast, he couldn’t remember what happened. He sat up, the covers falling off his bare chest, and he looked down. The deep scar was still embedded on his skin. As his hand touched the wound he suddenly remembered. Fighting that warrior, reviving his lost energy and most importantly, saving his mom. He leapt out of bed, much to his surprise he was still in great pain. He grunted and hit the floor almost immediately after getting out of his bed. His ribs were searing as if they were broken, and his muscles seemed torn, unleashing all that Ki at once after a year of no fighting didn’t seem so intelligent anymore. He grinned a bit, sighing as he fell back into a deep sleep. Chi-Chi eventually walked in on him and put him back in his bed, she sighed a bit as she tended to him. She let a tear slip down her cheek, hugging the sleeping Gohan dearly as she did.
“Gohan…” she wiped a tear from her cheek.
“I don’t know…what I would do if I lost you” she said, kissing his forehead tenderly.
“This is why I would rather you study, because it’s safer” She insisted to her sleeping son.
“Oh… but I suppose if you must fight…” She broke out in tears, not bothering to wipe them away now.
“Then… then… at least train some more before you do anything reckless” She laid her head on his chest, her tears trickling down onto Gohan’s skin.
Gohan opened his eyes, groaning a bit as he rubbed them. He was still sore and quite tired, however he noticed his mother weeping, over him. Gohan slowly wrapped his arms around her, holding her reassuringly.
“Mom, I won’t die, I promise” He said to her.
“I just need some more time to train and readapt my abilities” He said so quietly that you could almost swear he hadn’t spoken at all.
“Oh but… Gohan, do you really want to throw away all that studying” Chi-Chi asked, hoping that Gohan would feel obligated to finish studying more than fighting.
“I won’t be throwing away my knowledge, I’ll just be using it in conjunction with my abilities to save the world, would you rather me sit by idle allowing the world to crumble so I can have a good life. What life waits for me where no world exists” He asked his mother.
Chi-Chi sighed in defeat, knowing he was absolutely right. She wanted her boy to be just a normal child, like everyone else, studying and being good. However, she figured that he was too much like his Father and his “crazy” friends as she called them.
“Yes… it is true, after you’re done sleeping, come see me, I’ll have some things for you” Chi-Chi said, looking down at the floor more than her own son.
Gohan nodded, hugging his mother once more and then he went back to sleep, resting his body and mind for what was to come. All the while Chi-Chi contemplated on whether what she had said was the right thing after all, she was the parent figure in the house. She could forbid him from fighting if she wanted to, although, she doubted that Goku would like the fact that she helped destroy the Earth because she wouldn’t let the natural born fighter, fight.
The next day when Gohan awoke, he found his wound bandaged up and fresh breakfast on his desk. After eating the food, he walked out of his room, searching for his mother. Chi-Chi was in the living room, in what looked to be serious thought. Gohan slowly walked up to her, sitting next to her on the couch.
“So” Gohan said breaking the silence.
“Ah… yes…” Chi-Chi said, keeping her words as few as possible, she hardly wanted to accept that her Son was about to leave to go train and may not return for some time.
Gohan nodded, as Chi-Chi stood up and walked over to her little corner. It was there that she liked to “create” things as his father used to call it. It let Chi-Chi let out some of her rage into the passion of design. Gohan blinked, looking at her as she walked back over to him. She laid out his Namekian GI, which looked brand new, in addition to the old boots he wore for the Cell Games. Also, she placed a single Senzu Bean on top of the pile of clothing.
“There…” Chi-Chi said in a low tone.
Gohan was shocked; he didn’t know what to say. Already only being in his boxers, he quickly pulled the uniform on. It wasn’t long before he was tying his belt to keep his pants and tunic together. He then stepped into his shoes and walked around a bit, getting the feel for his old uniform. Chi-Chi smiled, she seemed to take gratification at the fact that her son was enjoying this.
“Thanks mom…” Gohan said, now taking the Senzu into his hand. He slowly put it in his mouth, eating it. Suddenly he felt a burst of energy, and it was like he was reborn. He felt great; his body seemed to have made a full recovery all at once. Chi-Chi smiled at his new enthusiasm from the lift of energy.
“Son, please be careful, if you die, then I’ll have lost two of my three boys. Losing your father was enough, I don’t want to bury my children” Chi-Chi said sadly, almost crying as she did so.
Gohan walked up to her, embracing her tightly, reassuring her as he did so.
“It’ll be ok, I’ll be sure to stay away from the big stuff until I’m stronger” Gohan said, still hugging his mother.
Chi-Chi nodded, allowing Gohan to release her finally, and with a few kisses, she let her boy go. Gohan waved, telling her not to worry, but he doubt that would relinquish any of her emotion. Gohan closed the door slowly and started walking out into his front yard. He began to stretch out a bit, loosing his body for what was to come. He then slowly walked forward, turning back to wave at the house one last time. Then he made his way into the forest, he wouldn’t come back until he was stronger. Until he could truly protect his loved ones, for now he decided it was best to train at the mountains. He decided he would jog there; he began to pick up his moving pace, running along the path rather than walking it. However instead of continuing straight as he normally did, he took a detour, that lead to the mountains. He figured running would be more training than flying. As he made his way as quickly as he could through the forest, he eventually came to the foot of the mountain. He saw a trail, and then he saw a rocky wall. He ran towards the wall, leaping up to the first rock and then he began to climb from there. He placed his arm up grabbing the nearest rock, and pulled his body up, placing his feet to the next rock above where his feet was, and he continued scaling the mountain. Gohan pushed on, grunting at times from loose rocks falling down from the trail and raining on him. In addition he would sometimes get pushed back, some rocks were looser than others, and grabbing them meant plummeting back down to the ground. Luckily for him he would catch a nearby rock, and just slowly start his way up the mountain once again. He looked up to see his remaining distance, not too far. He continued on, until finally he could no further, no more rocks were available for him to use for support. He looked down, and then looked back up. He didn’t just come all this way to go back. He regained his footing, and quickly pushed off against the mountain, he leapt into the air and landed on the steep, smooth edge of the mountain, his jump was short. However before he could slide too far, he leapt off the mountain side and landed on his feet at the summit of the mountain. He let out a sigh of relief; he had finally reached the top. He throws his arm through the air, right hooking the air, and then spun into a jump kick. He landed gracefully, on a single foot, holding one of his knees up and placing his palms together a few inches in front of his chest. He closed his eyes and began to hold this position atop the mountain, searching his feelings and emotions while maintaining his balance. He suddenly hopped off the ground, sending his leg forward into an upward kick, and then he landed safely on his knees. He opened his eyes, now standing up and looking down from the mountain the beautiful region he lived in. He smiled, listening to the wildlife, enjoying the fresh air, his father died for this world, and now he saw why. It truly was a beautiful place when you look past all the technology and hatred people seem to have for another. However to Gohan’s dismay, his fantasy didn’t comfort him too long, another Ninja-like Warrior had come. Gohan turned now being able to sense them with his abilities awakened.
“So, there are more of you then” Gohan asked.
The warrior just snarled and rushed at Gohan mercilessly. Gohan struck the warrior in the lower leg with his own foot, stopping its advance, and then sent a hard right punch into the warriors gut. The warrior screeched in pain and slowly began to stumble back. Gohan then stepped forward, his aurora slowly building around him, pushing the warrior back. The beast snarled once more, as it realized it was against the edge of the summit and would soon plummet to its death. Gohan smirked as he stepped forward once more, his energy seeming to frighten the beast.
“Are you really so weak, I guess the only reason I had trouble was because I wasn’t able to do this before” Gohan sighed almost disappointed at the warriors lack of power.
However to Gohan’s great delight and surprise, a blast of energy had come at his backside, Gohan merely did a 180 to the left, looking now where his back was facing before to see a new warrior. The old one had been struck down by the new warrior’s energy attack on Gohan. The boy looked back at the incinerated beast, gave a look of disgust and then looked back at the new warrior. Gohan felt it, this one seemed different, his energy was much higher than the others, and he seemed to be more threatening. Gohan quickly bolted himself forward, pushing his body forward, driving his fist into the warrior’s sternum. The beast snarled with pain, flying backwards from the blow. Gohan immediately followed up by leaping forward, his arm cocked back ready to send another punch. He sent his punch forward at the warrior, however it was more aware this time, and moved to the side, forcing Gohan to drive his fist into the top of the mountain. However, his blow left a deep crater than surprised the warrior, however it wasn’t about to give up its advantage. It sent a hard kick into Gohan’s rib cage, sending the boy up into the air. Gohan, grunted and slowly caught himself in the air, he stopped and gain back his control of his motion. He looked down at the warrior who was gathering energy for another attack. Gohan quickly countered with his own energy. He raised his right arm into the air, opening his palm so that it looked up at the clouds. He closed his eyes, gathering energy into the point above his palm. Soon a concentrated ball of golden-orange energy was floating steadily above his palm. Gohan opened his eyes to see the warrior was suddenly aiming at him. Gohan quickly drew his arm back, and then pushed his arm forward, launching the ball down at the warrior. However the warrior had already launched a beam of energy up at Gohan and was in no condition to move, seeing as he had to control the beam manually. The beam struck the ball and the warrior pushed upward, hoping to force it all back. However to the warriors surprise, the ball was slowly expanding, and because of its increase size it was pushing back easier than he could push against it. Soon the ball was 20 inches in diameter and inches from the warrior. The ball collided with the warrior and imploded, causing a dome of energy expand outward in all directions. However due to the luscious area that Gohan wished to preserve, he concentrated his energy and kept the dome to a minimum of the mountain. So not to hurt the wildlife, and when the dome faded, a large crater was left, with no sign of the warrior. Gohan smirked; floating down to the crater slowly to make sure the warrior wasn’t intact. Gohan looked around, seeing only rumble, convinced now that he had killed it.
“Phew… I thought he would have gotten me while I was in the air” Gohan said to himself.
However, the warrior stared up from the mountain next to the one Gohan obliterated; he was not intact and quite damaged. He grunted falling to a single knee. Gohan looked over to see the warrior was in a great deal of pain, and figured he should finish him off now. Gohan raced down towards the warrior, drawing his arm back again, this time gathering energy into his fist. He sent his fist forward, slamming his knuckles into the warrior’s cheek with force. The blow fazed out the warriors pupils and sent him flying off into the forest. Gohan quickly powered up his aurora and flew off towards the forest where the beast landed. Gohan landed on his feet, looking around, seeing no sign of the warrior. He then looked down, seeing a pool of blood and a trail of blood foot steps that left off towards a dark region of the forest. Gohan nodded, following the trail of blood, he knew that if the thing was still alive, and there were more of him, it would head back its base camp, and that’s what Gohan needed to find. If he could get into the camp he could discover the information he needed and stop these beasts once and for all.
“Gohan…” she wiped a tear from her cheek.
“I don’t know…what I would do if I lost you” she said, kissing his forehead tenderly.
