Gohan had finally gotten time away from his mother, free time, as his mother called it. Time when he could put down the pencils and books and exercise get some fresh air, he always felt like a pet, being trained and trained at one particular thing, and then now and then he could go run on his little exercise wheel.
“Whatever” he thought to himself.
“Anything other than studying suits me just fine.”
He walked out of his room, still in his “fancy cloths” as he liked to call them. It was a long white button up shirt, with baggy blue pants. He figured he could train in these, although he wasn’t sure how his mother would react. He decided not to tell her. He slowly walked for the door, almost free of his mother when suddenly he heard it.
“GOHAN” his mother screeched.
Gohan winced at the sound, and slowly his head crept around his shoulder, he looked at her out of the corner of his eye.
”Yes…” Gohan said, innocently.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Chi-Chi asked furiously.
“Just getting some exercise…” He rubbed the back of his head as he said this.
Chi-Chi’s eye twitched furiously.
“In those cloths…?” She stated firmly.
“Why not…” Gohan asked, knowing what he was about to get.
“You know those are special cloths for special occasions. You could at least wear something that will be easier to move in.” Chi-Chi said more concerned than angry.
Gohan blinked, curiously, what did that tone in her voice mean? Why was she so concerned about him being able to be mobile now more than ever?
“Oh, yeah sure mom” Gohan said back to her, in a confused tone.
Slowly, Gohan walked back to his room, contemplating what his mother was so worried about. He had always gone out to train, to play, or just to explore around the regions of his house in various clothing. He wanted to ask her, and he didn’t want to, what she had meant by that tone of voice. He sighed as he opened his door, seeing the dull text books on his desk, the plain room he had. He missed fighting now more than ever, and maybe it was just his Saiyajin heritage taking over after all this time of studying rather than training. Or perhaps it was something more, maybe there was a distinct reason Chi-Chi wanted him to be more careful, something dangerous that she wasn’t telling him about.
“But what” Gohan asked himself.
Gohan slowly made his way over to his closet, opening it slowly and looking through his cloths. Almost all of his training cloths had been thrown out by Chi-Chi after the Cell Games. He almost wasn’t able to save the uniform Mr. Piccolo had given to him. However there it was, hidden in the very back of his closet, in the small white box, folded up. Gohan took the box out of his closet, and placed it on his bed. He took the lid off and grabbed his purple training gi. He slowly unbuttoned his white shirt, revealing his chest. Then he tossed it aside, and picked up the purple shirt carefully. He hadn’t had any time to get it out and repair the tears and scratches on it; he hardly could with Chi-Chi around. If she saw it in this condition, she was liable to throw it out more than anything else. He pulled the shirt down and his head popped out of the hole. He looked down at the damaged uniform. Then he slowly stepped out of his pants and took out the bottom half of the uniform. He stepped into the purple gi, and then tightly tied a blue belt around his waist line, keeping the shirt and pants firm. He then stretched out a bit, cracking his tight bones after their dormant time. Studying seemed to have powered him down greatly, he needed to readjust his strength and learn to control his abilities once again. He doubted he’d have much time to do any serious training though. With that he slowly walked out of his room, down the hall, back into the living room. Chi-Chi looked at him with disbelief, but held her tongue, deciding it was better to let him go in that then his good cloths.
“Bye mom, I love you, I will be back later” Gohan said, waving as he opened the front door to leave.
“I love you too honey, oh please be careful” Chi-Chi shouted back with concern as he closed the door.
Looking up at the sky he smiled, birds sang happily, flying over heard, and lively rustling could be heard in the forest around their house. He grinned, running towards the forest, carelessly, enjoying the cool breeze, the warm sun, and the soft grass beneath his feet. He didn’t even realize that he forgot to put shoes on. As he came to the entrance of the forest he slowed down a bit, walking along the path of dirt that he had been down so many times. As he walked along, he admired the life in this forest; he had lived here his entire life and had gotten to be a real outdoorsman type. The only problem was he had contradicting parents, one wanted him to train and become a great martial artist, the other wanted him to be a doctor or a lawyer, something that would make him rich and happy. The only problem is, the thing that made him truly happy was training with his father. He couldn’t ever bare to tell his mother that though. She might have a heart attack, he sometimes thought to himself. He yawned, looking up through the brush of the trees at the sky, and closed his eyes and smiled.
“I love it out here” he said out loud.
As he continued walking he decided he should try and focus his energy. Seeing as he needed to revamp his powers and reawaken his fighting spirit. He may have the will, but if he doesn’t have the punch to back it up, we’ll he’d just be screwed. He stopped, and held his hand out a few feet from his face; he took a deep breath and slowly began to concentrate. To his dismay, all he could concentrate on was math, science, history and literature. He groaned, dropping his arm down to his side and walking on. He didn’t really think of much of anything as he walked along, he merely wondered why he had lost his energy, what seemed like entirely. He blinked, looking at the animals, smiling, taking in the tranquility. It had been peaceful for so long now, the Cell Games were almost a blur to him. It was hard to forget that ugly face, and how his father had died for the Earth, again. However, studying seemed to have overwhelmed him. He drew his arm back and as quickly as he could, sent his arm forward. His punches were slower than ever, he seemed to have lost most of his physical strength as well. He sighed, wishing he could go back when he had fun with Piccolo and his dad. Training all day for the preparation of the arrival of the Androids, back then they thought the Androids were their only problem. He chuckled a bit to himself, and suddenly his reminiscing was cut short.
“Gah” Gohan grunted as he hit the ground hard.
Without his Ki to heighten his senses and abilities, he never saw the punch coming. He got up as quickly as he could muster, and turned to see his attacker. Dressed in all black with a poorly home-made ninja mask around his head, Gohan couldn’t tell who this way. He could hear snarls and growls from the warrior, but he never would have thought that this person would be a demon. It lunged forward; about to slash Gohan with it’s protruding claws. Gohan quickly leapt backwards, although he wasn’t as fast as he used to be, he still could run away. That’s something no one ever forgets how to do. Gohan stumbled, moving backwards as he did, evading what blows he could. Until finally, Gohan hit a tree, and sank to the ground, the warrior seemed to let out another snarl, and then went to slash Gohan once again.
“Gah” Gohan let out a scream of pain as the warrior dug its sharp nails into his chest, ripping away at the torn GI and opening a fresh wound on his chest. Gohan stared up at the warrior, his vision starting to blur as blood freely flowed from his wound.
The warrior moved forward, ready to engage Gohan once again. However, it seemed to stop, looking up at the sky. Then it went to attack once again, Gohan could hardly believe it, he was really about to die here, all because he couldn’t use his Ki anymore. The warrior grunted, throwing its arm forward again, ready to pierce through Gohan’s skin with its tough claws. However again, it stopped the tip of its nails just at the edge of Gohan’s skin. Again, the warrior looked to the sky, this time making sounds, as if arguing to something. Finally it lowered its claws and stepped back, looking at Gohan with a, “you’re lucky” type of glare. The warrior quickly dashed away, towards his house. Gohan let out a deep breath, he looked at the ground he laid on, for a second, and anyone would have sworn they saw a tear run down his cheek, but Gohan had quickly brushed his cheek with the back of his hand. Gohan had no idea how long he had been laying there, and he knew that if he didn’t get home Chi-Chi would be worried, but the sun hadn’t even begun to set yet, so he figured he could wait a little while longer. Although he doubted that leaving his wound like this was very intelligent. Suddenly he laughed, a brilliant book worm like himself, laying half dead against a tree. How did this happen, he slowly thought to himself. He was once considered the strongest warrior in the entire world, and now he was dying, DYING! Then suddenly it hit him.
“Mother” he screamed out, standing up and grunting.
As he stood up he thought he heard a rib crack. However at the moment, he had one thing on his mind, that warrior was on his way to his home, and Chi-Chi was there without anyone to protect her. Although he moved slowly, and limped, he thought he was making good time. One hand held his open wound and the other swung lifelessly as he moved on towards his house. Soon it had become nightfall, it was later than he thought, and although he didn’t believe he had come that far into the forest, he assumed that he must have been against that tree longer than he though. Chi-Chi was surely worrying about him by now. Before long though, Gohan had spotted light towards the end of the path, his home. As he reached the end of the trail he looked at his house, he sighed with relief, nothing seemed to be wrong, perhaps that warrior just passed by this area. Sadly he was mistaken, he walked towards his house, and the same warrior that had faced him before noticed this. He snarled with glee, getting to kill the boy after all. Gohan however saw the attack this time; he ducked under a slash from the warrior, and punched the warrior in the stomach, dead on. It didn’t phase him, the warrior merely laughed, kicking Gohan into the ground, watching him skid. Chi-Chi hearing a commotion outside looked out the window to see a dark figure attacking Gohan. She put her hand to her mouth, covering her scream and quickly ran to the door. She opened the door, and screamed.
“Gohan” tears running down her face as she screamed this.
However this played perfectly for the warrior, he turned to see Chi-Chi and suddenly ran at her, knocking her to the ground and quickly shredding her skin and clothing with his sharp claws.
“NO” Gohan screamed in both anger and fear.
He grunted standing up and limping over to his mother. The warrior however, seeing Gohan getting closer, kicked Chi-Chi farther away and stood in-between Gohan and his mother. The warrior growled with delight, baring his claws, as if threatening Gohan. However, the boy didn’t care; in fact, he couldn’t care less right now. Gohan stared at the warrior, stilling edging forward as he could; Gohan bore the look of the devil himself, his eyes full of anger, rage, and hate. The warrior seeing this got slightly intimidated and almost fled, however as if being commanded he was forced back into his threatening stance. Once face to face with this creature, Gohan screamed, and something the warrior hadn’t expected happened.
“Now, it’s your turn to suffer” Gohan screamed, he suddenly seemed more fluent and alive. As if his wounds meant nothing to him.
The warrior seeing this was shocked and didn’t catch the blow. Gohan had sent a hard punched into the warrior’s stomach, he grunted from the pain. Then Gohan swung his leg around from the side, striking the warrior in the ribs, sending him flying into a far away tree. Gohan looked at his mother, nodding a bit as she stared back at him. Chi-Chi smiled and then slowly laid herself back down.
“I guess it’s inevitable, if he cannot do it, then my son must” Chi-Chi said quietly to herself.
Gohan quickly covered the distance he had sent the warrior with a single leap, and he stood above the monster, looking down at it. He didn’t grin; he didn’t let on any clue that he might enjoy this. He merely grabbed the warrior by the collar, drew his arm back, drawing energy into his fist as he did so. It was as if he had never forgotten now, like riding a bike, he just needed a little push a reason to fight. He swung his arm up sending his fist of Ki into the warriors jaw. Blood ran down from the warrior’s neck, the blow had broken his jaw entirely. The warrior now flying up into the air, Gohan merely raised his arms crossing his hands atop his forehead. Energy quickly gathered into his hands and one word came from his mouth.
“Masenko” Gohan said coolly, thrusting his arms forward and releasing the golden beam from his hands. The energy flew up into the warrior, enveloping him, driving him upward into the air, before finally, it exploded. The warrior like the beam had disappeared, no trance of him remained. Gohan’s energy however had been flaring the entire time; even Chi-Chi noticed the green energy that illuminated from Gohan’s body. The boy walked back over to his mother, kneeling down and picking her up he looked at her sadly.
“Are you alright” Gohan asked.
“Yes, you’re old mother isn’t as weak as she looks, I just need to rest honey” Chi-Chi reassured him.
Gohan walked back into the house holding his mother in his arms. He closed the door behind him and set her down on the couch, he looked down at her, smiling, and that was the last thing he remembered. For now he was face up on the ground, unconscious. Chi-Chi jumped to her feet, suddenly caring for him more than herself. Gohan had finally unleashed his dormant abilities, from the love of his mother. He doubted now that Chi-Chi could keep him from developing his abilities further, for he knew one thing. He needed to know what that warrior was, and where it came from.
“Whatever” he thought to himself.
